IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra has set a clear tone for IPL 2026, saying the team will stick to its trusted style. He stressed that the focus remains on competing and winning, not just taking part in the tournament.
Nehra spoke at Shubharambh 2026 in Ahmedabad on March 24, 2026. The event brought together the full squad, franchise owners, partners and fans. He said the Titans are not planning major changes. He placed responsibility and trust firmly on his players.

Nehra said, "I don't think there's a need to think differently this season." He added, "In fact, I don't have to think, the players do." He continued, "They have to think. They have to play; I'm sitting outside." His words underlined player-led decisions.
Reinforcing the mindset, Nehra said, "From day one, our mindset has been clear, we are not here to participate, we are here to compete and win." He noted that new teams may expect a delay. He said that was never the Gujarat Titans' approach.
Since joining IPL in 2022, the Gujarat Titans have shown strong consistency. They reached the playoffs in three of their first four seasons. They also won the title in their debut campaign in 2022. Nehra linked that record to clarity in plans and roles.
On continuity, Nehra said, "You're talking about a captain who has been with the team from day one and has seen that journey." He added, "I don't think we are looking to do anything different this season." He backed stable leadership for the group.
Shubharambh 2026 marked the start of the new season and a five-year reflection. The event showed unity, ambition, and a Gujarat-first ethos, with cultural elements. It highlighted the franchise's strong bond with fans and the state. The Titans open against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on March 31.
After that first away match, the Gujarat Titans return to Ahmedabad. Their first home fixture is on April 4 against the Rajasthan Royals. Both early games will test the stated approach. The franchise enters IPL 2026 with continuity and a familiar competitive focus.
