IPL 2026: KKR batter Finn Allen Opens Up on Powerplay Aggression, Shane Watson's Influence

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are gearing up for a high-stakes encounter against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Ahead of this highly anticipated clash, KKR's dynamic top-order batter, Finn Allen, addressed the media in a pre-match press conference.

Known for his blistering batting pace at the crease, the New Zealand international provided candid insights into his current form, the tactical balance required in modern T20 cricket, and the dressing room atmosphere as Kolkata looks to build crucial momentum.

Addressing his early-season form and Converting Scores in the powerplay, he emphasized that a big score is just around the corner.

"It's the nature of T20 cricket, trying to take the game on. It's only been a couple of games, so you can't judge too much. Personally, I've had good starts in the first two games, but I would have liked to kick on more. Preparation has been good and hopefully it's around the corner," Allen said.

For Allen, working closely with former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has provided a stabilizing force to his aggressive natural game.

"I've had a lot of experience with Watto (Shane Watson) now. He's got a world of knowledge and a lot of experience. He's really good to talk to when it comes to batting and stays calm. He understands how to bring me back when things are too well or not well," he added.

While KKR suffered a narrow defeat in their previous outing,Allen stressed that the team's processes are locked in as they prepare to face a formidable Chennai squad.

"Every team in this tournament is very strong, so we have to be at our best in every game. Preparation has been consistent - good communication, good meetings and solid planning. We've been doing the right things and are just waiting for it to click. The last game went down to the wire. If we win that, we're flying. So, we take the same mindset into the game against Chennai - get that win and get our season underway."

As KKR prepare to take the field against CSK, all eyes across the Indian subcontinent will be on Finn Allen at the top of the order to see if he can execute this game plan and deliver a devastating blow in the powerplay.
