IPL 2026: KL Rahul names Two India Youngsters who has Impressed Him This Season

After shifting up and down the batting order in recent years, KL Rahul has found his home again at the top. Since cementing his position as the permanent opener for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026, Rahul's form has skyrocketed. Finding clarity in his role, he has become the anchor and the aggressor that DC desperately needed to push for a top-four finish.

Speaking on JioStar's 'Superstars', Rahul detailed how returning to his natural position has positively impacted his game this season.

"Playing as an opening batter for Delhi Capitals makes my life a bit easier," Rahul explained. "Knowing that this is where I am going to bat, and that it is a permanent position, helps me prepare better... walking into the season knowing that this is where I will mostly start helps me find a clear game plan. It gives me clarity on what I need to do this season, and that has really helped me."

While Rahul acknowledged that stepping out of his comfort zone in the past helped him "grow as a cricketer and as a person," he admitted that opening the batting feels like "known territory and a comfortable place."

But as Rahul continues to dominate, he is acutely aware of the changing landscape of T20 cricket, driven by a new wave of fearless Indian prodigies. Rahul was particularly full of praise for 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and emerging talent Ayush Mhatre.

"It's phenomenal what the new-age cricketers are doing," Rahul noted. "Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken world cricket by storm. Two centuries at the age of 15 is something I never even dreamt of doing. Ayush Mhatre has also done well, helping CSK score quick runs. The amount of talent coming up in India is scary, especially in T20 cricket."

Rahul highlighted the stark difference in mindset between his generation's upbringing and the modern youngsters who are bred for the IPL.

"These fearless prodigies are changing the way T20s are played. They don't fear reputations or match situations," Rahul observed.

"Whether it's a world-class bowler like Jasprit Bumrah or a seasoned campaigner like Pat Cummins, they go after every ball with the same intent. Five years ago, we weren't producing as many six-hitting batters as England or Australia. Now, things have changed, thanks to the IPL. These guys grew up wanting to hit sixes. When we were young, we had to learn to defend and leave the ball. Hitting in the air meant sitting out of nets. It was a different time."

Inspired by the youth, Rahul even admitted to adapting his own preparation.

"I spoke to Abhishek Sharma recently. What I've learned is that their preparation gives them confidence. It all comes down to how hard they train. I've tried to bring that into my own game as well."

In conclusion, KL Rahul's return to a permanent opening slot has provided him with the clarity and comfort needed to dominate the powerplay for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026. By blending his years of international experience with the fearless, aggressive preparation techniques of young prodigies like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma, Rahul is continuously upgrading his game for the modern T20 era.
