IPL 2026: KL Rahul unfazed despite surpassing MS Dhoni, He Rather Wants Something Else
KL Rahul is currently batting with a sense of freedom and authority that makes him one of the most dangerous players in the IPL 2026. Central to the Delhi Capitals' campaign as they push for a spot in the top four, Rahul's phenomenal form at the top of the order has been a revelation this season.
His campaign has been highlighted by a jaw-dropping, unbeaten 152*, a knock that completely destroyed opposition bowling and redefined his capabilities as an explosive opener.

During this prolific run-scoring streak, Rahul quietly achieved a massive milestone: he surpassed the legendary MS Dhoni on the IPL's all-time run-scorers list. However, speaking on JioStar's 'Superstars', the Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter revealed he was entirely unaware of the achievement until after the fact.
"I didn't even realise I had gone past Mahi bhai on the IPL's all-time run-scorers list," Rahul admitted.
For Rahul, personal records are secondary to the ultimate prize. The 34-year-old made it clear that while passing a legend like Dhoni in runs is special, there is another of Dhoni's records he truly covets.
"Honestly, the milestone I would love to match with MS Dhoni is his five IPL trophies that he's won with CSK," Rahul stated. "When you have a long career, personal achievements do feel special. They tell you that your hard work and sacrifices have paid off. But at the end of the day, cricket is a team sport. You want to win trophies. You want to be part of successful sides. That has always been my goal."
Rahul emphasized his commitment to team success over individual accolades. "Every season, I give my best to win the IPL, no matter which team I play for. That matters the most to me. Personal milestones are good. They reassure me that I am on the right track. But what would truly make me happy is winning as many trophies as MS Dhoni."
If he can maintain this extraordinary momentum and channel his drive to match Dhoni's coveted five IPL titles, the Delhi Capitals might just find themselves lifting their long-awaited maiden trophy this year.
