The Indian Premier League has sanctioned Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Tim David and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya for different reasons during the MI vs RCB match in IPL 2026 on Sunday (April 12).
The IPL announced the sanctions on Monday (April 13), as the duo have learned their punishments, as it was confirmed by a press release.

Tim David handed Match Fee Fine
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been fined 25% of his match fee and awarded one Demerit Point for violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct during Match No. 20 against Mumbai Indians (MI).
David breached Article 2.4, pertaining to "disobeying an umpire's instruction during a match." The first incident occurred in the 18th over (17.2) of RCB's innings when umpires changed the ball; David refused to hand it over despite repeated requests to inspect it. The second breach happened in the 20th over (19.2), where he again failed to comply with the umpires' directive. David accepted the offence and the Match Referee's sanction.
Hardik Pandya Penalized for Slow Over-Rate
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 12 lakhs for his team's slow over-rate offence under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This marks MI's first such violation this season.
"Hardik Pandya, Captain, MI, has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. As this was his team's first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, he has been fined INR 12 lakhs," an IPL statement read.
In the match, the Paltans suffered a defeat by 18 runs at the hands of RCB, who have continued their decent run at the start of this IPL 2026 season.
