Royal Challengers Bengaluru began their IPL title defence preparations in Bengaluru on 21st March 2026. The squad trained at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Their first match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 28th March. Virat Kohli and Head Coach Andy Flower led the first session.
The practice marked the return of RCB to their home ground. The group included several new signings and young players. Venkatesh Iyer, Mangesh Yadav, Jordan Cox, Vicky Ostwal and Satvik Deswal joined the camp. Under-19 World Cup winners Kanishk Chouhan and Vihaan Malhotra were also welcomed.

Addressing the squad, Kohli said the team had worked very hard over the last two to three seasons to achieve success last year. He warned that opponents would now target them more. He stressed the need to prepare with full focus from the start.
Kohli told teammates they must not waste training days. He said, “We stay ahead. So switch on now. Let's not waste even a minute of any session that we are a part of. We must give our 120% for these two and a half months.”
Flower said RCB had an interesting auction and believed the squad had improved. He praised the new additions and spoke of integrating them into what he called the RCB way. He highlighted the leadership of Virat Kohli and Rajat while discussing squad building.

Flower said there was one difference this year. The team now has a star on their shirt, which he described as a proud feeling for all RCB fans. He reminded players that last season was over and said they were here to win this year's IPL.
Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma said the group was very eager to meet. He was happy to get more batting time in the nets. He said he met all the coaches and enjoyed the chance to train again with the new setup.
Flower highlighted the value of beginning the campaign at home. He said the first game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was a great chance to build early momentum and connect with home fans. He praised the outfield, calling it superb, lush, green and beautiful.
