The IPL 2026 season brings high anticipation with its partial schedule release. The BCCI announced the first 20 days' fixtures on March 11 due to assembly elections in states like Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

This staggered approach ensures smooth logistics and security during the March 28 to May 31 window of the IPL 2026.

IPL 2026 Teams

Ten teams compete: Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Punjab Kings. Defending champions RCB open against SRH on March 28 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

IPL 2026 Auction Overview

The Abu Dhabi mini-auction saw Rs 215.45 crore spent on 77 players. KKR secured Cameron Green for a record Rs 25.20 crore.

Uncapped Indians stole the spotlight, as CSK splashed Rs 14.20 crore each on Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma, the highest sums for domestic talents in IPL history, bolstering their pace attack. KKR doubled down with Matheesha Pathirana (Rs 18 crore) and Mustafizur Rahman (Rs 9.20 crore), while Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) grabbed Liam Livingstone for Rs 13 crore.

Other top deals included Josh Inglis to Lucknow Super Giants (Rs 8.60 crore), Ravi Bishnoi to Rajasthan Royals (Rs 7.20 crore), and Venkatesh Iyer to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Rs 7 crore).
