IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi registers Two Massive Milestones, No One Ever Has Done It!
In a stunning display of power-hitting, 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has etched his name into IPL history by becoming the highest scorer in the powerplay (Overs 1-6) for a single edition of the IPL in the ongoing IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans.
The Bihar prodigy amassed a record 521 runs at a blistering strike rate of 233.63 in IPL 2026, surpassing David Warner’s 467 runs (SR 150.16) from 2016. He is the first batter ever to breach the 500-run mark in the powerplay phase of one season.

Sooryavanshi’s dominance redefined T20 batting. Nearly three-quarters of his total runs came in the first six overs, turning matches into one-sided affairs before the middle overs even began. His explosive starts, laced with towering sixes, left bowlers rattled and fielding restrictions exploited to the fullest.
In the ongoing IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 match against Gujarat Titans, the RR youngster continues to impress. After his stunning 97 off 29 balls in the Eliminator, Sooryavanshi is batting on 67 runs off just 37 deliveries, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes so far in his knock. After 15 overs, the Royals are 138/5 and the youngster will be crucial if they are to post a decent total.
Most Runs in IPL Powerplay in a Single Season
- 521 - Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (2026, SR 233.63)
- 467 – David Warner (2016, SR 150.16)
- 402 – Travis Head (2024, SR 208.29)
- 402 – Sai Sudharsan (2025, SR 155.81)
- 382 – Adam Gilchrist (2009, SR 165.36)
At just 15, Sooryavanshi has already broken multiple records, including most sixes in a season. His journey from youngest IPL debutant and centurion to powerplay king underscores a new era in T20 cricket. As RR eye the final, opponents must find ways to curb this phenomenon early — or watch games slip away in the opening overs.
