Guwahati, March 30: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals teenage star, delivered another extraordinary performance as he smashed a sensational 15-ball half-century against Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 opener in Guwahati on Monday (March 30).
Already established as one of the most exciting young talents after his breakout IPL 2025 season, Suryavanshi reaffirmed his class with a breathtaking display of power-hitting that left the opposition with no answers. The left-handed opener, started the tournament on a high with a quickfire half-century in the first game of the new edition.

The crowd at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, turned up in big numbers to watch veteran CSK star - MS Dhoni - in action and hoped for a good show from the Yellow Brigade. To their disappointment, Dhoni gave this game a skip due to a calf injury, and CSK batters too disappointed after being put in to bat first. However, RR batters and Suryavanshi in particular put up a clinical performance and entertained the audience in the run chase of 128.
At just 15 years and 3 days old, Suryavanshi lit up the arena with a stunning 15-ball half-century, leaving fans and experts in awe and rewriting the record books in emphatic fashion. His first fifty of 2026 came with back-to-back sixes off CSK's mystery spinner Noor Ahmad, sending a strong message to the opposition bowlers.
Chasing a modest target of 128, Rajasthan Royals were expected to approach the innings cautiously. Instead, Suryavanshi unleashed a relentless assault from the very first over. Opening alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, the youngster turned the chase into a spectacle, dominating both pace and spin with fearless intent.
Suryavanshi raced to his fifty in just 15 balls, reaching the milestone inside the powerplay. His explosive knock of 52 off 17 balls featured 4 fours and 5 towering sixes, at a staggering strike rate of over 300. By the end of the powerplay, RR had surged to 74/0, effectively sealing the contest.
With this innings, Suryavanshi etched his name firmly in Rajasthan Royals' history. His 15-ball fifty now stands as the second-fastest for the franchise, just behind Jaiswal's record-breaking 13-ball effort.
Remarkably, the teenager now holds two of the top three fastest fifties in the franchise's history, underlining his rapid rise.
Suryavanshi's latest knock builds on his sensational 2025 season, where he had already announced himself with a 17-ball fifty and a stunning century. The improvement in his game is evident - shaving two balls off his previous best reflects not just confidence, but a growing command over elite bowling attacks.
More impressively, it is his technique that stands out. The left-hander showed remarkable composure, pulling high-pace deliveries with ease and stepping out confidently against spinners, displaying a maturity well beyond his years.
While his age grabs headlines, Suryavanshi's performances suggest he is far more than just a teenage sensation. His ability to dominate experienced bowlers and dictate the pace of a chase points to a rare talent capable of shaping the future of the league.
