Punjab Kings' star Shashank Singh is brimming with confidence ahead of IPL 2026, boldly predicting a triumphant final at Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 31.
After a stellar 2025 IPL campaign where PBKS topped the points table with a dominant league stage, they fell just 6 runs short of their maiden title against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. Now, under captain Shreyas Iyer, the team aims to go one better.

In an interview on 'JioStar Press Room', Shashank declared that he can envision PBKS lifting the IPL 2026 title.
"I know that on May 31st, we will be playing at the Chinnaswamy and lifting the cup. It's not just a feeling, I know this. This will happen. It's the self-belief and team belief. Everyone is on the same page. There is confidence in everyone," Shashank said.
He emphasized a match-by-match approach for the new season. Incidentally, the Kings were the beaten finalists in IPL 2025 as they lost to RCB in the final.
"So our immediate aim is to prepare for our first game against GT, then against CSK and KKR. To play the final and win is the ultimate goal. But we have to focus on every match, rectify our mistakes that will be easier. We are very motivated and excited that we are the same group. We are better prepared than last year," he added.
Shashank, retained by PBKS, reflected on personal challenges and asserted a team-first approach over individual progression.
"It is more a mental game than skill game during the IPL. The past year didn't go well for me as I had a spate of injuries and I couldn't play competitive cricket much. My biggest goal is to make an impact for the team. Individual goals will be secondary because I want the team to win and I want a photo with the cup. I don't like batting much in the nets and prefer to bat in matches as my role requires me to use the mind more than the skill set," the PBKS player concluded.
PBKS kicks off against Gujarat Titans at the New Chandigarh Stadium on March 31, and the team under Shreyas Iyer will be hoping to go one step further this year.
