By MyKhel Staff

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has set his eyes on winning the title with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. The young Indian sensation, who recently won the U19 World Cup, has revealed his goal at the BCCI Naman Awards.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his IPL debut on April 19, 2025, for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants at 14 years and 23 days old, becoming the youngest player in IPL history. He smashed a six off his first ball from Shardul Thakur and scored a fearless 34 off 20 balls as an impact substitute.

In his debut IPL 2025 season, playing 7 matches, he amassed 252 runs at an average of 36.00 and an explosive strike rate of 206.56. His highlights included a record-breaking 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans. Across the season, the southpaw hit 18 fours and 24 sixes.

The 14-year-old will be in action again for the Royals as the new season starts on March 28, and he has only one thing in mind, which is to win the title.

"The goal this IPL season is to win the trophy for the team, as it is a very important thing. I want to do well, and my performance will help the whole team. This is my goal - to contribute to RR's wins and win the trophy for the franchise," Sooryavanshi said to Star Sports at the BCCI awards on Sunday.

Sooryavanshi created history when he became the youngest player to be picked in the IPL, at the age of 13 years, when RR paid Rs 1.1 crore to buy him in the IPL 2025 mega auction. And the southpaw is ecstatic to be part of the Royals team as he recalled his early days with the franchise.

"I am happy to be with RR, as I have improved a lot too in my life while playing for them. For any youngster, the first IPL camp is always interesting and it was the same for me too. Rahul (Dravid) sir was there at that time, so I got to learn a lot from him. There were a lot of senior players in the team, and I had a good learning experience from them during the first camp as well as the first IPL," the youngster added.

Rajasthan Royals begin their IPL 2026 campaign with a home match in Guwahati against Chennai Super Kings on March 30, where they will meet their former captain Sanju Samson, who made his move away to CSK from RR ahead of this season.
