IPL 2026: Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have suffered a setback ahead of the IPL 2026 season, with bowler Yash Dayal set to miss the tournament due to personal reasons. The franchise has officially confirmed his absence, which comes as a significant blow to the defending champions.
Speculation about Dayal's availability had already been circulating, as he was not seen in training sessions and was also missing from the team's promotional materials, raising questions about his status within the squad.

According to RCB team director Mo Bobat, Dayal is currently dealing with a personal crisis, which has led to his withdrawal from the upcoming season.
Dayal has recently been in the spotlight due to legal controversies. Earlier, he was denied anticipatory bail in connection with an alleged case involving the rape of a minor. His troubles began in July 2025, when he was accused of exploiting a woman under the pretext of marriage, followed by another case registered against him under the POCSO Act in Jaipur.
Meanwhile, RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, is set to begin its IPL 2026 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by Ishan Kishan. The opening match will take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28.
After clinching the IPL 2025 title, RCB will aim to defend their crown, while Sunrisers Hyderabad, who finished sixth last season and missed out on the playoffs, will be looking to start fresh and make an impact this year.
