IPL 2027 Auction: CSK can have Rs 37 Crore Purse with These Five Released Players, Check Out!

Chennai Super Kings could face several difficult decisions ahead of the IPL 2027 retention deadline as the five-time champions look to build a stronger squad for the next season.

While their investments in young Indian talent reflect a long-term strategy, squad balance, overseas combinations, availability and value for money could influence their decisions ahead of the mini auction.

IPL 2027 Auction CSK can have Rs 37 Crore Purse with These Five Released Players Check Out

After a series of poor outings in the last few seasons, the five-time IPL champions will be desperate to make amends next year. With Zaheer Khan as head coach at the helm, there can be a few new ideas, which may see some of the current players being shown the door. As CSK look to build again, here is how they can generate a chunk of cash through some releases.

1. Prashant Veer - ₹14.20 crore

CSK made a massive investment in the uncapped all-rounder, but his first IPL season offered mixed returns. Veer scored 91 runs in six matches, averaging 45.50, but his bowling economy of 12.50 raised concerns. Given his enormous price tag, Chennai could reassess whether the investment justifies the opportunity cost, although his potential makes retention a realistic option.

2. Kartik Sharma - ₹14.20 crore

Kartik delivered a promising debut season, scoring 295 runs in 11 matches at an average of 32.78. His performances make releasing him difficult to justify purely on cricketing grounds. However, CSK may consider the financial flexibility that could come from releasing one of their most expensive uncapped recruits, particularly if they want to strengthen multiple positions at the auction.

3. Khaleel Ahmed - ₹4.80 crore

Khaleel managed just two wickets in five appearances during IPL 2026. Although left-arm pace offers useful variety, CSK may seek greater consistency and wicket-taking impact from their Indian fast-bowling options. His price could become a consideration if the franchise identifies a more effective alternative, especially with bowling depth likely to remain a key squad-building priority.

4. Gurjapneet Singh - ₹2.20 crore

Gurjapneet claimed four wickets in eight matches, but his economy rate of around 9.28 suggests room for improvement. CSK may assess whether he can deliver more consistently in the powerplay and middle overs. With competition for Indian pace-bowling places, the franchise could explore alternatives if his overall impact does not meet expectations.

5. Nathan Ellis - ₹2 crore

Ellis was ruled out of IPL 2026 before the tournament because of a hamstring injury. The Australian pacer was expected to strengthen CSK's death bowling, making his absence significant. Chennai could reconsider his overseas slot and fitness record before 2027, although releasing him would depend on his recovery and the franchise's confidence in his availability.
