IPL 2027 Auction: Date, Venue Revealed for Mini Auction as BCCI Whatsapp Message Surfaces
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has indicated December 16, 2026, as the provisional date for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction, with ITC Grand Goa emerging as the venue.
However, the date and location are yet to be confirmed through formal communication to franchise owners and chief executives.

According to a WhatsApp message circulated by the BCCI's logistics team on Saturday, reported by Cricbuzz, the auction briefing is scheduled for December 15, a day before the main event. Several IPL franchises have reportedly received the message, which also seeks information about the size of their delegations attending the auction.
The communication is primarily intended to help franchises organise travel and accommodation arrangements in Goa. With formal confirmation still awaited, the possibility of a change in the schedule cannot be ruled out.
India-Sri Lanka ODI Adds to Scheduling Questions for IPL 2027 Auction
The proposed auction date coincides with India's scheduled ODI against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, potentially creating a logistical challenge for officials and personnel involved in both events. It remains unclear whether the international fixture will be affected by the auction schedule.
India's three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka is also expected to begin on December 13, with New Delhi initially designated to host the opening match. Recent reports have suggested that a venue change could be considered, although the BCCI has previously denied plans to shift the fixture.
Any alteration to the international schedule would require an official announcement from the board. For now, neither a change to the India-Sri Lanka match arrangements nor a final confirmation of the auction venue has been established.
