Fleming’s position has come under sharper scrutiny since CSK finished eighth in IPL 2026. The former New Zealand captain has been associated with the franchise since the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and took over as coach in 2009. His partnership with MS Dhoni has been central to CSK’s most successful years, built on stable planning, role clarity and trust in experienced players.

CSK set to back Stephen Fleming despite pressure

According to reports, Fleming’s contract is renewed annually, and the franchise is likely to continue that arrangement ahead of IPL 2027.
