Dubai, December 19: Australia's Steve Smith and England's Phil Salt remained unsold in during the IPL 2024 Mini Auction, held at the Coco-Cola Arena in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19).
A total of 332 players - 216 Indian and 116 overseas stars - have been shortlisted for the mini auction and a maximum of 77 players, among them will be bought during the bidding process.

After the first set of players that saw capped batter go under the hammer, the likes of Harry Brook, Rovman Powell and Travis Head were sold for their base price, while Rachin Ravindra and Wanindu Hasaranga were bagged in the second set that featured capped all-rounders. Shardul Thakur and Pat Cummins also went for big bucks in the second set.
Cummins actually broke the record for most expensive buy in the IPL auction history as Sunrisers Hyderabad beat off Royal Challengers Bangalore to land the Australian captain for a whopping Rs 20.50 Crore.
Smith was the one overseas players that went unsold in the first set, while Indian batter Karun Nair also did not attract any bids. Nair was part of squads last season, while Smith was not part of the auction.
None of the players from the second set remained unsold as few players triggered bidding wars for the capped all-rounders like Daryl Mitchell, Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel and Chris Woakes.
In the third set, England wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt, who was part of Delhi Capitals last season, remained unsold as his former team opted for South Africa's Tristan Stubbs. Australian World Cup-winner Josh Inglis and Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis also remained unsold.
In set 4, New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson, who has been part of Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans in the past two seasons, remained unsold in the capped bowlers category. Australia's Josh Hazlewood, who is unavailable for the first part of the season, also remained unsold.
In the final set of first group of capped players none of the overseas spinners had any takers as Ish Sodhi, Adil Rashid, Tabraiz Shamsi, Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Waqar Salamkheil remained unsold.
Unsold in first round, Manish Pandey, Shai Hope, Lockie Ferguson and Rilee Rossouw returned to the auction as the franchises selected them during the last part of the bidding day to fill any remaining slots. Here is the full list of unsold players so far in IPL 2024 Auction:
