By MyKhel Staff

A plethora of foreign players have ensured a full commitment for the next IPL cycle, starting from IPL 2025 to IPL 2027.

The upcoming mega auction on Sunday and Monday is set to become a monumental building block for the next three seasons, and along with that, the BCCI has managed to rope in full commitment from the majority of the players across nations for the aforementioned time period.

Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe players have already committed fully to the season. There are a sporadic number of players across England, and Bangladesh who may not be available for the full seasons for the next three years.

IPL 2025-27 Cycle: Foreign Players and their Commitments for the next three IPL Seasons

Australia

Australian players have pledged full availability for all three IPL seasons, though a few exceptions remain. Matthew Short will be available for only 50% of the 2025 season, while players involved in the 150th-anniversary Test against England in 2027 may face limited participation. Cricket Australia has confirmed its players will be released from domestic duties for the IPL, barring potential international commitments.

In 2026, Pakistan will tour Australia for a three-match series, while in 2027, Australia will host England in a one-off Test match in Melbourne from March 11 to 15, to celebrate 150 years of Test cricket.

New Zealand

New Zealand Cricket has also ensured full availability for its players. However, Mark Chapman will only feature in 55% of the 2025 season, Will Young will be available for only 50% of the 2025 season. But apart from them, others will be available for the entire season.

England

All centrally contracted England players, including stars like Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, Jofra Archer, and Sam Curran, will be fully available for the IPL 2025-2027 cycle. Non-centrally contracted players are also expected to participate, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has assured a correction to past controversies by committing players for the tournament's entirety.

"ECB's non centrally contracted players are available for the next three seasons of the IPL. Some players will be out of contract in this period but within their current contracts they are available," a BCCI statement said.

South Africa

South African players have committed to full participation, but Rilee Rossouw will only feature in 50% of the 2025 season. Nandre Burger will also be available 75% of the IPL 2025.

West Indies and Zimbabwe

Players from the West Indies and Zimbabwe are fully available for the cycle, except Dion Myres (85% of the 2025 season).

Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan players will be fully available for IPL 2025. However, availability for 2026 and 2027 will depend on the players' status in the league after the 2025 season. Sri Lanka Cricket will confirm participation details for retained and released players closer to the auctions for each season.

Bangladesh

While most Bangladeshi players will have limited availability, Shakib Al Hasan has committed to playing all matches across the three seasons. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has conveyed this to the BCCI.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan players are set to participate fully in all three seasons, ensuring representation in the IPL.

The BCCI note provides franchises with clarity and allows teams to strategize their plans for the upcoming mega-auction and beyond. With assurances from major cricket boards, the IPL's global appeal continues to grow, ensuring top-tier participation across nations.
