The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to be a thrilling event, especially for teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) that aim to strengthen their squad to secure their maiden IPL title.
The RCB franchise retained only three players prior to the mega auction - Virat Kohli was roped in for Rs 21 crore, Rajat Patidar for Rs 11 crore, and uncapped India pacer Yash Dayal has been kept for Rs 5 crore in the team.

With a sum of Rs 83 crore in their auction purse, RCB will be one of the teams who shall go all guns blazing at the auction table. The auction, which shall be held in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah on November 24 and 25 respectively, is set to have 12 marquee players up for grabs, from India's Rishabh Pant to South Africa's David Miller.
With up to 22 players up for grabs, here are some of the marquee players they may try to bring at the team for the next IPL cycle.
With RCB traditionally relying heavily on their top-order, Pant offers a dynamic middle-order option who can change the game single-handedly. His leadership experience with the Delhi Capitals adds a potential captaincy alternative. The southpaw can be appointed as the next RCB captain as well, but RCB will have to fend off other suitors in order to land the India star.
Pant can be the biggest buy in the history of IPL auction, and RCB is likely to be one of the teams in the race.
Jos Buttler, one of the most destructive openers in T20 cricket, can form a dream pairing with Faf du Plessis or replace him as a long-term opener. His ability to accelerate the innings and handle pressure situations makes him invaluable. Also Buttler's wicketkeeping ability adds to his value. The England international can also be the perfect partner for Virat Kohli at the top of the RCB batting order.
Mitchell Starc, who has previously represented RCB, brings raw pace, swing, and excellent death-bowling skills. With RCB often criticized for their lack of a strong bowling lineup, Starc can lead the attack and provide breakthroughs at crucial junctures.
The current most expensive IPL player did a superb job for the Knight Riders in the playoffs last season. He was bought for Rs 24.75 crore, but the Australian is likely to cost a lot less in the mega auction.
As a consistent performer in IPL and a former RCB player, Rahul could stabilize RCB's top order. He offers versatility, excelling both as an opener and in the middle order. Additionally, Rahul's calm demeanor adds leadership depth. The India batter has been tipped for homecoming and it is one the cards, especially with RCB's massive auction purse.
A fan favourite during his time at RCB, Chahal's experience and mastery in middle-overs bowling are invaluable. Bringing him back would address RCB's spin-bowling concerns while reuniting him with the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he's had immense success. The leg-spinner is out of the India fray in recent months, but is still among the 12 marquee players in the auction list. And RCB can get their former talisman at a cut price deal, which will only suit their strategy.
