Ravichandran Ashwin will have a homecoming in IPL 2025 with Chennai Super Kings pulling off another fantastic deal getting him for INR 9.75 crore. Ashwin started his IPL journey with Chennai Super Kings in 2008 and played for them till 2015.
Ashwin entered into the bid with a base price of INR 2 crore with CSK opening the bid. Rajasthan Royals (RR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) joined them in the race. Eventually, RR and CSK battled it out with the Yellow army getting the final nod.

CSK seem to be looking to make the old band come together in the 2025 IPL mega auction. They have also signed their former players Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway with Rahul Tripathi being the latest addition.
Ashwin's journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008 when he was picked by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). While his initial seasons were moderate, the 2010 edition saw him become a crucial part of the CSK bowling attack. His performances were instrumental in helping the team secure back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011.
After six successful seasons with CSK, Ashwin moved to Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 due to CSK's suspension. Unfortunately, a sports hernia ruled him out of the 2017 season. He returned in 2018 as the captain of Kings XI Punjab, where he led the side for two seasons. His tenure was marked by bold decisions, including the controversial 'Mankading' of Jos Buttler in 2019, which sparked widespread debate about the spirit of the game.
In 2020, Ashwin joined the Delhi Capitals, further cementing his reputation as a dependable bowler in the shortest format. Two years later, Rajasthan Royals secured his services for ₹5 crores during the 2022 mega auction. Across all his IPL seasons, Ashwin has consistently delivered, maintaining a very low economy rate as well as taking 10 or around numbers almost every season since 2010.
