Naman Dhir's IPL 2025 auction journey turned into a dramatic spectacle, with the young all-rounder becoming one of the most hotly contested players of the day. Initially listed with a base price of INR 30 lakh, Dhir quickly caught the attention of Mumbai Indians, who bid for him right away. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore jumped in soon after, sparking a fierce bidding war between the two sides.

The price surged beyond the INR 1 crore mark, and soon, Delhi Capitals entered the fray, raising the bid to INR 1.7 crore. Mumbai wasn’t backing down, and the battle continued with both teams pushing the price further until Rajasthan Royals also joined the action, bringing the bid up to INR 2.6 crore. Ultimately, Mumbai had to bow out, as Rajasthan seemed to have sealed the deal.

However, the drama didn’t end there. Just as Rajasthan Royals appeared to have won Dhir’s services, Punjab Kings made a late entry, only to watch Rajasthan raise their bid to INR 3 crore. After a tense back-and-forth, the price escalated to INR 3.40 crore, before Punjab Kings backed out. But in a surprising twist, Mumbai Indians exercised their Right to Match (RTM), instantly matching Rajasthan’s bid.

In a final turn of events, Rajasthan upped the ante to INR 5.25 crore, and this time, Mumbai didn’t hesitate to accept the bid, bringing Dhir back into the fold. The young talent, who had impressed last season, will now play for Mumbai Indians once again, becoming their most expensive uncapped Indian player in this year\'s auction.

Naman Dhir, who played seven matches in IPL 2024, impressed with his strike rate of 177.22, including a blazing 62* that almost single-handedly kept Mumbai alive in a crunch game against Lucknow Super Giants. His ability to finish games and his fearless approach made him a hot property in the auction.

Mumbai Indians’ confidence in retaining Dhir showcases their faith in young Indian talent. Speaking about the move, MI’s representative remarked, “Naman Dhir is a game-changer. His fearless batting and ability to perform under pressure make him an invaluable asset to our squad.”

With this record-breaking purchase, Mumbai Indians have set a strong tone for the 2025 season, reaffirming their knack for spotting and backing young stars. Fans eagerly await to see how Dhir justifies his hefty price tag and contributes to MI's campaign in the upcoming IPL season.
