A total of 72 players, including 24 overseas, were bought by teams on the first day of the IPL Mega Auction 2025, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday (November 24).
As per the player regulation rules, each team was allotted a total purse of INR 120 crore - 20 percent more than last year - to build a squad of a maximum of 25 players, including eight overseas cricketers, for the upcoming IPL 2025.

On the opening day of the auction, a staggering ₹467.95 crore was spent by IPL franchises on 72 players as 84 players went under the hammer with teams breaking the bank for the marquee Indian cricketers.
Teams including Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals were all locked in intense bidding wars for some of India's top cricketers.
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant (Rs 27 Crore) became the most expensive buy in IPL history, pipping what Punjab Kings paid for Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 crore), while Venkatesh Iyer was the surprise buy at Rs 23.75 crore by his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
PBKS started the auction with the largest purse and went heavy for Indian cricketers - Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh, both of whom cost the franchise Rs 18 Crore.
RCB with the second biggest purse also made some smart buys, while LSG, who broke the bank for Pant, also roped in some good buys on the opening day, when CSK, MI, RR, GT, KKR and SRH also added to their squads
After pre-auction retentions, some franchises like Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians headed into the auction with the smallest purses.
SRH now heads into the second day of the auction with a remaining purse of under Rs 6 Crore, while RCB has the highest remaining purse of Rs 30 plus crore with plenty to do in the auction table. Here is a look at the IPL Auction 2025 remaining purse of all teams on day 2:
