The IPL 2025 Mega Auction kicked off with a flurry of intense bidding wars on Sunday (November 24) in Jeddah.
A total of Rs 467.95 crore was spent by the ten franchises and 72 players were bought.

Lucknow Super Giants acquired Rishabh Pant with a record fee of Rs 27 crore, while Shreyas Iyer joined Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. KKR made headlines too, going all-out for Venkatesh Iyer, securing him for a staggering Rs 23.75 crore.
The anticipation for Day 2 remains high as several big names and key role players are to be picked. One of the names who may garner significant attraction is Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw.
Prithvi Shaw, known for his explosive batting, has been a significant figure in the IPL since his debut in 2018. Shaw was signed by the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) and immediately showcased his potential as an attacking opener. Over the years, Shaw has delivered memorable performances, including blistering half-centuries and a string of high-impact starts.
While his aggressive style has often put bowlers on the back foot, his inconsistency and struggles against quality swing bowling have drawn criticism. The player has also been marred with discipline issues and fitness, which has been a reason why he has been struggling to break into the India lineup. The player was also recently left out of the Mumbai Ranji squad for fitness-related problems but will be hoping to get back on track with the IPL.
As the IPL 2025 Mega Auction progresses, Shaw remains a key figure in the league, with his attacking prowess keeping him in the spotlight. Delhi Capitals released the batter, but he is likely to have multiple suitors.
Prithvi Shaw is listed in the Set 13 of the auction list, which is reserved for capped batters. The serial number of the player is 89 and he has a base price of Rs 75 lakh.
The proceedings of Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega auction will start at 3:30 pm IST. As Prithvi Shaw is on the very first list, the player is expected to arrive early in the auction. The set consists of only 7 players, which means Prithvi's name can come up at any time between 3:30 pm at the earliest and the latest may be around 4:30 pm. So the fate of the player is likely to be decided by the first hour of the second day.
