The two-day mega auction for IPL 2025 broke new ground as player prices soared to unprecedented levels. With an intense focus on acquiring top-tier fast-bowling talent, the 10 franchises left no stone unturned, collectively spending over Rs. 150 crore on pacers. The auction, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, showcased fierce bidding wars, highlighting the value and demand for exceptional bowling prowess in the league.
However, the record for the most expensive bowler remained unbroken as last year’s price for Mitchell Starc of Rs. 24 crores had not been touched by any of the players. The Aussie left-arm pacer saw a significant fall in his price tag as he sold at Rs. 11 crores.

Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal topped the list of the most expensive bowlers. Both of them got a hefty price of Rs. 18 crores. The next two biggest signings are Trent Boult and Josh Hazlewood, both of which are sold at Rs. 12.5 crores.
Arshdeep Singh is set to spearhead the Punjab Kings bowling the IPL 2025 after PBKS went in for the Indian pacer for Rs 18 crore. Despite leaving him out of the retention list, the Kings went on to match the RTM even after the elevated price.
Yuzvendra Chahal is also moving to Punjab for the first time in his career. The Indian leg-spinner is another massive acquisition for PBKS ahead of the new cycle. Chahal, who boasts 205 IPL wickets, is a valuable addition for the Kings.
Trent Boult is also shifting base this season as he returns to Mumbai Indians. The New Zealand pacer has been a sensation for RR over the past couple of seasons, but MI went all guns blazing, and the powerplay monster will couple with Jasprit Bumrah and bolster Paltan's bowling attack significantly.
Josh Hazlewood, the crafty Australian pacer, will be playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the upcoming season. He has been a prolific name for Australia in the limited-overs and is a valuable addition to RCB in the next cycle.
Mohammed Siraj's association with RCB ended, but the Indian pacer has found a new home at Gujarat Titans. He will be replacing Mohammed Shami, his India teammate, at the franchise and is expected to raise fire along with South African pacer Kagiso Rabada.
Mitchell Starc, the most expensive bowler of all time in IPL history, will join Delhi Capitals for the next IPL. The Australian left-arm fast bowler has been phenomenal for KKR in last year's playoffs. Along with other star pacers like Mukesh Kumar and T. Natarajan, Starc will bolster the DC pace-battery manifolds.
Kagiso Rabada, the South African marquee signing by Gujarat Titans, will join the star pacers like Mohammad Siraj, Ishant Sharma, and Gerald Coetzee in his new team. Rabada was instrumental across the seasons for Punjab Kings before parting way before this mega auction.
T. Natarajan, the 33-year-old left-arm medium pacer, was excellent in the last season for SRH. But injury remained a consistent issue for the pacer. Along with Mitchell Starc, Natarajan will be an extra option as a left-arm pacer, which could be a lethal option for right-handed batter-heavy teams.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the star Indian right-arm pacer, is one of the highest wicket-takers of this tournament. After a long association with Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 34-year-old pacer will join RCB. With the ability to swing the ball both ways, Kumar is expected to lead the RCB pace attack along with Josh Hazlewood.
Mohammed Shami, the Purple Cap winner of IPL 2023, missed the last season due to injury. In IPL 2025, the star Indian pacer will be back with SRH. The addition of Shami, along with pacers like Pat Cummins and Harshal Patel, will certainly make the SRH pace-battery one of the best of the IPl 2025.
