The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) entered the IPL 2025 Mega Auction with the second-largest purse, retaining only three players as they looked to rebuild their squad from the ground up.
The first day of the mega event saw them aggressively pursue several marquee players, leading to some high-profile signings. However, with significant gaps still remaining, RCB heads into Day 2 as the team with the largest purse, ready to plug the gaps in their roster.

RCB made some bold moves on Day 1, securing six players in an attempt to form a strong core. They spent a total of Rs 52.35 crore on the day and brought in six players. Ahead of the final day, RCB have Rs 30.65 crore in their kitty, the largest among all teams.
They secured Phil Salt for INR 11.50 Cr, adding explosive firepower at the top, and Jitesh Sharma for INR 11 Cr, a dynamic wicketkeeper-batter who bolsters the middle order with his finishing skills. Liam Livingstone, signed for INR 8.75 Cr, brings versatility as a hard-hitting all-rounder and a useful spin-bowling option. The pace attack was strengthened with the signing of Josh Hazlewood (INR 12.50 Cr)while young pacer Rasikh Dar (INR 6 Cr) and specialist spinner Suyash Sharma (INR 2.60 Cr) were the uncapped buys.
Despite these additions, Bengaluru missed out on some key targets, including Venkatesh Iyer and Mitchell Starc. Their decision to forego the use of the Right-to-Match (RTM) card on Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell also raised eyebrows, particularly as Maxwell was sold for a relatively modest price.
After Day 1, RCB's squad remains top-heavy with many one-dimensional batters. As they head into the second day with the biggest purse, it is all about converting their will into proper execution and buying their targets.
A consistent performer in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz Khan would add much-needed stability to the middle order. His ability to accelerate in the death overs and handle pressure makes him a valuable asset. Sarfaraz started his IPL journey with RCB and the franchise can become his abode again.
A left-handed batting all-rounder, Sam Curran ticks multiple boxes for RCB. He can strengthen the middle order, provide a left-arm seam option, and bowl at critical junctures of the game.
Another left-arm option, South African Marco Jansen is a tall all-rounder who can swing the ball upfront and contribute with handy runs down the order. His inclusion would add depth to both the batting and bowling units.
A young and aggressive batter, Will Jacks is the player on whom RCB are likely to utilize their RTM Card. Jacks showed his might for RCB last season and is definitely on their wishlist.
A former RCB player, Akash Deep's familiarity with the team environment and his ability to bowl with the new ball make him a good backup option for the pace attack.
A left-arm spinner, Siddharth would provide variety to RCB's spin attack. The Tamil Nadu spinner may come cheap for RCB as well.
A young all-rounder with pace , Hangargekar is an excellent long-term investment who can contribute in multiple departments. RCB can use him as a backup pacer and bring him on as an Impact Player.
A left-arm pacer from Afghanistan, Farooqi brings variety and effectiveness with the ball, especially in the powerplay and death overs. He had a superb outing with Sunrisers Hyderabad and is likely to be a key addition for them.
A hard-hitting batter and useful medium-pacer, Bhandage offers flexibility in both batting and bowling roles. The Karnataka player was in their ranks before and can be another handy backup in the team.
A powerful lower-order hitter and off-spinner, Gowtham provides depth in both batting and bowling. His experience in the IPL makes him a smart pick.
