IPL:Cricketer Ankeet Chavan tense, marriage to be cancelled?

New Delhi, May 28: 27-year-old cricketer Ankeet Chavan seems to be tense as his scheduled marriage on June 2 may get cancelled if he does not get bail.

A court in Delhi earlier had dismissed bail plea of the tainted player who was arrested over his alleged role in IPL spot fixing scandal. The court had extended their police custody which ended on Tuesday, May 28.

Chavan along with his two other Rajasthan Royals (RR) team mates -- S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila were arrested from Mumbai by Delhi Police. The cricketers have been accused of accepting money upto Rs 60 lakh for giving away pre-determined number of runs in an over during IPL matches.

Chavan, who was sent to judicial custody till June 4, sought bail saying that his marriage was nearing and the ceremonies were going on.

Kishore Gayakwad, Chavan's lawyer, also told, "Chavan's marriage has already been fixed and it is on June 2, so he be granted bail."

Sreesanth too had applied for bail saying, "no case is made out against me and I have been falsely implicated."

Investigation in fixing scandal is getting murkier day by day. It was learnt that cricketers were lure with money, expensive gifts and women.

Recently, a CCTV footage was aired on TV new channels showing Sreesanth, Chavan along with one prime bookie Jiju Janardhan.

The two players also were seen with different women at different times. The footage was collected from a hotel in Chandigarh where Rajasthan Royals team had stayed during their IPL match.

All three cricketers were taken to a court in Delhi on Tuesday. According to sources, Delhi Police again may ask the court to extend their custody as cops believe that more crucial information may crop up during the interrogations of the trio.
