IPL Fixing: Arrested bookie, Dawood aide Sreesanth's cousin

New Delhi, May 16: Delhi police arrested Sreesanth along with two other cricketers nad 11 bookies in connection with spot fixing case during this ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season six.

According to sources, one of the arrested bookies -- Jiju Janardhan, who is also said to be a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, is a distant cousin of the Kerala spacer.

Delhi police, during a press conference in the national capital on Thursday, May 16, informed Jiju Janardhan was the conduit between the bookies and Sreesanth. The fast bowler reportedly received Rs 40 lakh for fixing the over.

Around 30 calls were routed to Pakistan and more than 12 matches are being investigated for match fixing, said sources revealing D company's alleged involvement in the scandal.

Sreesanth and two other cricketers were arrested by the special cell of the Delhi Police in Mumbai on Wednesday, May 15 on charges of spot-fixing in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

The special cell was tapping phones of several cricketers and bookies and incriminating evidence was found against the three accused.

It was said that the spot fixing was being done in matches against Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. Sreesath was arrested from his friend's place while the two other players were arrested from the team hotel in Mumbai.

The bookies were arrested from Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad. The bookies reportedly had met Chandila in a Mall in Gurgaon on May 7.

A case was filed against Chavan and Chandila at Marine Drive Police Station under Sections 420 (for cheating) and 120(b)(for conspiracy) of the IPC. Details of the case registered against Sreesanth were yet to be known.
