IPL Fixing & Dawood, underworld link confirmed: Delhi Police

New Delhi, May 29: Delhi Police for the first time confirmed that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim indeed was involved in the infamous IPL fixing scandal. During a court proceedings on Tuesday, May 28, police official disclosed that one of the arrested bookies was in constant touch with Dawood's close aides.

The bookie has been identified as Tiku Mandi who allegedly was in connection with a D-company pointsman. Earlier it was reported that hundred of calls were rooted to Pakistan and Dubai and many more matches of IPL 6 were under police scanner.

Meanwhile, Delhi court sent arrested cricketer S Sreesanth to Tihat jail till June 4. Other two Rajasthan Royals (RR) players -- Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila too have been sent to judicial custody.

BCCI chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) owner Gurunath Meiyappan also would be produced in court as his police custody ended on Wednesday, May 29.

Meiyappan allegedly had placed huge bets on several IPL matches including CSK matches. He also allegedly had revealed secrets of team strategies to bookies. Meanwhile, a close aide of CSK owner and a hotelier in Chennai -- Vikram Aggarwal has gone missing ever since small time Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh's arrest in the case.

According to Mumbai Police, Aggarwal allegedly had played a crucial role in the fixing. He allegedly had connection with Bollywood celebrities and many other bookies.
