IPL Fixing: More shocking info about Gurunath Meiyappan

Mumbai, May 26: Two days after his arrest, Mumbai Police on Sunday, May 26 reportedly found some more shocking information regarding Gurunath Meiyappan. According to police sources, Meiyappan allegedly had passed secret team strategies with bookies and Vindoo Dara Singh had acted as a conduit between the Meiyappan and bookies.

Being the CEO of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Meiyappan was allowed to stay close with the team managements and cricketers. Meanwhile, it was reported that Meiyappan had placed bet at least 9 IPL matches of season six. While he won four matches, he lost in five matches including one on CSK where he lost at least Rs 10 lakh.

Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan, was arrested on Friday over his alleged role in IPL spot fixing scandal. Small time Bollywood actor Vindoo, who was also arrested by Mumbai police, first mentioned reportedly mentioned Meiyappan's name for the first time during police interrogation.

BCCI on Sunday suspended Meiyappan from any involvement in cricket or in IPL team Chennai Super Kings pending further inquiry in the betting case.

The official statement says, "BCCI officials met with officers from the Mumbai police on the evening of May 23, and will continue to offer all assistance to the police and regulatory authorities."

Srinivasan has been under pressure to resign from his post ever since Meiyappan's arrest. Earlier India Cements, owner of CSK, disowned Meiyappan saying that he is neither CEO nor owner of CSK.
