IPL: Justin Langer likely to replace Andy Flower as head coach of KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants

Justin Langer is in the race to replace Andy Flower as the head of the IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), a Cricbuzz report has suggested. According to the reports, the discussions with the legendary Australian cricketer and coach are ongoing and several rounds of meetings have already been held.

Australia won the T20 World Cup 2021 under the watch of Langer. The former opener has also guided Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League titles in the first four years. The 52-year-old is currently not committed to any coaching assignments as of now.

If the negotiations turn out to be fruitful, the former all-format coach of Australian national team, will succeed Zimbabwe's Andy Flower whose 2-year contract with LSG finished with the IPL 2023.

Under Flower, LSG reached the play-offs stage for two consecutive years. Notably, the Lucknow-based franchise came into existence in 2021 alongside Gujarat Titans (GT) from the 2021 edition of the IPL.

The report has further suggested that Morne Morkel, Jonty Rhodes, and Vijay Dahiya are expected to continue as bowling, fielding, and assistant coaches of the KL Rahul-led side, respectively.

Other IPL teams are also expected to rejig their coaching setups. However, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who finished seventh in the IPL 2023, are expected to continue with the same group led by Chandrakant Pandit.
