IPL: Cricketers in Bangalore likely to fall sick soon

Bangalore, Apr 18: Indians and people in other parts of the world are crazy for Indian Premier League (IPL) and especially for the cricketers who entertain the crowds with their mind-blowing batting and bowling. But this time the players' lives are in danger, the cricketers may face serious health hazards if Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) does not retreat its decision to stop collecting garbage dumped near Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

BBMP has refused to clear the garbage piled up in the Chinnaswamy Stadium following the row of free IPL passes being provided to corporators. The mess has not been cleared till Wednesday, Apr 18. [Read: Post IPL, Ganguly likely to join cheerleaders in Olympics]

According to Deputy mayor S Harish, for every match, the Karnataka State Cricket Association must give Rs 10-15 lakh towards garbage clearance and as advertisement tax.

Sources reveal that the zonal joint commissioner has been instructed not to clear the garbage pile in the stadium.

Reports suggest that the BBMP has now sourced garbage clearance to an outside agency, while BBMP team- Prahari has been asked to keep a track on the trucks as garbage has to be dumped at the designated place.

"Tax has to be paid for every advertisement that is displayed inside and outside the stadium. Tax has to be paid even for the sponsors' logos on the players' dress during the match. Nothing has been paid," said the Deputy mayor said.

Citing the present scenario, it's clear that cricketers and viewers may face serious health issues if the BBMP officials do not consider to clear the mess in front of the stadium.
