IPL Mega Auction 2025: When Does The Accelerated Round Begin & When Do Franchises Need to Nominate Players?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (November 15) revealed the final player list for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction, and the cricket body has also reportedly written to the franchises informing about the rules of the bidding process.

In the final IPL Auction 2025 Players List, a total of 574 players appear with 366 from India and 208 from overseas, including 3 from Associate Nations. While 574 players will be in the final list, not all players will go under the hammer during the two-day auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Only the first few players or sets will be mandatorily called out by the auctioneer in set-wise random order, while the remaining will be entering the fast-paced bidding process, which will see select players of the franchises' choice make the list.

According to a report in CricBuzz, BCCI has informed the franchises about when the accelerated process will start and when they will need to nominate their choice of players for the fast-paced round.

What does accelerated round in IPL Auction mean?

Accelerated process is done after the first two sets of capped and first set of uncapped players are called out in set-wise order. The remaining players will head into the accelerated process for which the franchises will select the required players to be called into the auction.

When does the accelerated process start in IPL Mega Auction 2025?

The report from CricBuzz states that the IPL Auction accelerated round in 2025 Auction will start from player number 117 (that is from the second set of uncapped players) to player number 574.

When do franchises need to nominate the players for the accelerated process in IPL 2025 Auction?

For the first accelerated process which covers all the players from 117 - 574, franchises will have to nominate their choices by 10 PM IST on the evening of 24th November. More on the same will be made clear during the auction briefing on the eve of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

The two-day IPL Mega Auction 2025 will take place on Sunday (November 24) and Monday (November 25) at the Benchmark Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with the first day's start time set for 12:30 PM Local Time (3 PM IST) on November 24.
