Several teams got closer to finalizing their playing 11 or 12 on the opening day, but teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians have left it until day 2 on the IPL 2025 Mega Auction to figure out their playing 11 for the upcoming seasons.

Lucknow Super Giants splashed the big bucks to land Rishabh Pant, who became the most expensive buy in IPL history at Rs 27 Crore. Delhi Capitals matched the winning bid of LSG at Rs 20.75 Crore, but could not use their Right to Match (RTM) on the raised bid.

Earlier, Punjab Kings, who were backed by many experts to land Pant, opted to go all out for Shreyas Iyer, buying the title-winning Kolkata Knight Riders captain for Rs 26.75 Crore. Pant and Iyer broke the previous record of Rs 24.25 Crore, KKR splashed on Mitchell Starc in 2024 auction.

While DC failed with their RTM for Pant, the Delhi-based franchise were successful in their attempt to buy back Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk. Similarly, PBKS used one of their RTM on Arshdeep Singh before Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians also used up their only remaining RTM cards.

Several teams like PBKS and Royal Challengers Bengaluru still have RTM cards up their sleeve, but it will be interesting to see on which players they could use the option on day 2.

After the first 12 sets of the auction, almost all teams have finalized at least 11 players, while RCB and MI have 9 players each in their squad. All teams need to fill up a minimum of 18 slots.

As mentioned earlier, RCB and PBKS have 3 RTM slots each, while GT, LSG, SRH and DC have one Right to Match cards each. CSK, MI, KKR and RR have no RTM cards. Here is a look at the remaining slots and RTM cards of all teams on day 2 of the auction:
