Delhi Capitals have announced their retention list ahead of the upcoming IPL mega auction, and the franchise has retained only four players. The only uncapped player who managed to be retained is Abhishek Porel. But not all the uncapped players do not get equally lucky.

DC’s almost overhaul of the squad before the auction is an indication of reshaping their core team. Even the skipper Rishabh Pant also has been released as the franchise wants to look for other options for the captaincy role. However, in the last IPL very few of the uncapped players made it to the playing XI and Abhishek Porel was the only consistent one to get the chances.

Besides Abhishek Porel, there was another who was impressive in the last IPL campaign but did not make it to the retention list of DC. Rasikh Dar, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir joined Delhi Capitals in 2024 and played 11 matches so far. In this short period, he managed to gather 9 wickets, and his best bowling stat is 3 wickets for 34 runs. Despite this decent performance, Dar is not picked up by his franchise.

Other uncapped players like Yash Dhul, Ricky Bhui, Kumar Kushagra, Lalit Yadav and Praveen Dubey got very few chances to prove themselves and they all have been released. Some players like Swastik Chhikara and Vicky Ostwal were unlucky as they didn't even get the chance to prove themselves.

However, it is quite unlucky for players like Rasikh Dar and Lalit Yadav, who have performed well in the past yet have to face the uncertainty of auction. For an uncapped player, there is always a risk of not being picked up by any of the teams.
