Rishabh Pant has been one of the standout cricketers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) without the shadow of a doubt. The Roorkee-born cricketer is known for his explosive batting and fearless approach to the game.
Ever since joining the Delhi Capitals (previously known as Delhi Daredevils) in 2016, he has grown from a promising young talent to one of the most valuable players in India's premier T20 competition.

Rishabh Pant's IPL journey kick-started in 2016 and since then he has been a part of the franchise for nine seasons. He is one of the prized assets whom DC will retain ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Let's take a glimpse at the Roorkee-born's financial journey in the IPL.
(2016 to 2017): INR 1.9 crore per season
Rishabh Pant was initially roped in by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) franchise for INR 1.9 crore (approximately USD 256,000) at the 2016 IPL auction. He scored 198 runs in 10 games including a fifty. Despite his disappointing performances, he was still retained by the team for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Notably, he brought the best out of himself in the next two seasons, scoring 366 and 684 runs, smashing 1 century and 7 half-centuries.
(2018 to 2020): INR 8 crore per season
Rishabh Pant's salary saw a significant rise, courtesy of his performances in IPL 2017 and 2018 editions. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2019 season, where he scored 488 runs including 3 half-centuries. DC retained him for the 2020 season but his performances dipped as he scored 343 runs including a fifty.
(2021): INR 15 crore
The Delhi-based franchise retained Pant for the 2021 season. Rishabh Pant took over the captaincy in that season when Shreyas Iyer was sidelined due to injury. Under his leadership, DC topped the points table at the halfway mark before the tournament was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. When the league resumed later that year, DC decided to stick with Pant as their captain. He scored 419 runs including 3 half-centuries in that season.
(2022 to 2024): INR 16 crore per season
DC retained Pant for a hefty price of INR 16 crore. The skipper scored 340 runs and didn't score a fifty in that season. Under his captaincy, DC finished ninth on the points table in that season. He didn't play in the subsequent season as he was ruled out from cricket after suffering a road accident in December 2022. However, he made a comeback in IPL 2024 season, scoring 446 runs, laced with 3 fifties, registering an unbeaten 88 off just 43 balls against Gujarat Titans.
