IPL Retention: Gujarat Titans 'confirm' their two retentions with a social media post - Check Out

By MyKhel Staff

IPL Retention: As the suspense over the retention list of all the ten teams increases with every passing minute and second, Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday (October 23) almost confirmed the names of the two players they are going to retain.

Gujarat Titans took to their social media handles to share the pictures of their captain Shubman Gill and star leg-spinner Rashid Khan. "All over the opponents like a Shub-Rash," they captioned the pictures in which the duo were seen celebrating together.

"Indirectly clearing all the rumours," one of the fans replied to the post.

Notably, Rashid Khan, who has played for other MI's other franchises - MI Emirates, MI Cape Town and MI New York, was being linked to the five-time champions Mumbai Indians. Reports claimed that there was a meeting held between MI and Rashid to discuss the terms of the potential move.

The post from Gujarat Titans also showed that Shubman Gill was being backed as a long-term leader of the franchise. Hardik Pandya led Titans to two back-to-back finals before moving to Mumbai Indians last year.

Shubman Gill was handed over the captaincy as the batter scored 426 runs in 14 matches at an average of 38.72 and a strike rate of 147.40. However, GT finished eighth with just five wins in 14 league matches.

Rashid Khan had a below-par season last year. He managed to pick just 10 wickets in 12 matches. But one of the best T20 spinners also looks set to be retained by the 2022 champions.

Further, star pacer Mohammed Shami in a recent interview also made it clear that he would like to continue for Gujarat Titans if an opportunity is given. David Miller and Sai Sudharsan are also two players Gujarat would want to retain.
