IPL: Shukla, Jaitley ask Srinivasan to stay away from probe

New Delhi, May 29: BCCI chief N Srinivasan is finding himself more cornered in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal.

According to reports, IPL chairman Rajev Shukla and BCCI Vice-President Arun Jaitley have asked Srinivasan to stay away from the probe into the fixing scandal. The duo had reportedly asked the board president during the IPL final in Kolkata to step aside for the time being.

Chief of Hyderabad Cricket Association has also sought resignation of Srinivasan. The latter found himself in trouble after his son-in-law Gurunath Meyiappan, a top official of the Chennai Super Kings, was accused of involving in the murky business which has tainted the image of the gentlemen's game. Gurunath was arrested in Mumbai on May 24.

The BCCi chief, however, remained adamant and gave his own interpretation about Shukla's remarks, saying the latter only said that he would stay away from independent probe which he himself had said earlier.
