IPL vs PSL 2024 Salary: How Do Kohli vs Babar or Starc vs Shaheen Salaries Compare?

The recent Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction saw the record for most expensive buy break twice in the space of an hour as Australian pace duo Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins hit the jackpot in IPL Auction 2024.

While Cummins became the first to break the Rs 20 Crore barrier after Sunrisers Hyderabad secured his services for a whopping Rs 20.50 Crore, Starc was bagged for Rs 24.75 Crore by Kolkata Knight Riders, becoming the most expensive player in IPL history.

Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam IPL and PSL Salary Comparison

Apart from the IPL auction, this month also witnessed the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Players Draft 2024 which also saw a few international stars bag PSL contracts. However, the highest salary in PSL is diminutive when compared to what players earn in IPL.

Starc's value of an approximate USD 2.98 million in IPL is almost 18 times more than the highest paid bracket in PSL. In the Pakistan Super League, the highest paid bracket is USD 170,000 (INR 1.41 Crore approximately).

However, one needs to understand that in an auction there is no cap, but in a player draft there is a fixed salary cap, meaning the comparison is not that fair as there is huge difference when it comes to a player auction and a player draft.

In PSL, key players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Kieron Pollard, Rilee Rousow, Sherfane Rutherford, Mohammad Rizwan, and David Willey among others fall under the Platinum category, highest paid bracket in the PSL.

In IPL even a rookie like Sameer Rizvi, who bagged Rs 8.40 Crore from Chennai Super Kings, earns almost eight times more than the highest paid bracket in PSL. Here is a rough look at how the IPL vs PSL 2024 salaries compare in between star players.

Kohli vs Babar IPL and PSL Salary 2024 Comparison

Babar Azam earns USD 170,000 (INR 1.41 Crore approximately) at Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2024, whereas, in IPL at Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohl earns Rs 15 Crore, which is almost 10 times more than what the Pakistan batter earns in PSL.

Starc vs Shaheen IPL and PSL Salary 2024 Comparison

In IPL at KKR, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc will earn Rs 24.75 Core, which is almost 20 times more than what Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi (USD 170,000) will earn in PSL with Lahore Qalandars.

Cummins vs Naseem Shah IPL and PSL Salary 2024 Comparison

In IPL, Pat Cummins will earn Rs 20.50 Crore at Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Pakistan's premium pacer Naseem Shah (USD 170,000) will earn almost 15 times less than what the Australian World Cup-winning captain will make in the Indian Premier League.

In IPL the lowest earning is Rs 20 Lakh (USD 24,000), while in PSL the rest of the categories are Diamond: $60,000-$85,000 (INR 50-70 Lakhs), Gold: $40,000-$50,000 (INR 33-41 Lakhs) and Silver: up to $25,000 (INR 20 Lakhs).
