Most successful IPL teams

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings dominate the IPL record books with five titles each.

Chennai Super Kings lifted the trophy in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The franchise has also reached the IPL final more times than any other team, finishing runners-up on five occasions.

Mumbai Indians won their titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Rohit Sharma captained MI in all five of those triumphs, making him one of the most successful leaders in IPL history alongside Dhoni.

Kolkata Knight Riders' three-title run

Kolkata Knight Riders remain the only team apart from CSK and MI to win the IPL more than twice.

The franchise won its first two titles under Gautam Gambhir in 2012 and 2014. A decade later, KKR secured their third championship in 2024 under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

Latest IPL Champions: Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally lifted their first IPL trophy in 2025.

After finishing runners-up three times in the past, RCB ended their long wait for a title by defeating Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final.

The victory marked one of the most memorable moments in the franchise's history after years of near misses.

Teams that have won the IPL once

Several franchises have lifted the IPL trophy once since the tournament began.

Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural IPL season in 2008 under Shane Warne, defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final.

Deccan Chargers claimed the 2009 title in the edition played in South Africa. The franchise was later replaced by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won their maiden IPL title in 2016 under David Warner after beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final.

Gujarat Titans made an immediate impact after joining the IPL in 2022, winning the title in their debut season before finishing runners-up in 2023.

Which IPL teams haven't won the trophy yet?

Despite being part of the tournament since the early years, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are still searching for their first IPL title.

Both teams have reached the final once but have yet to lift the trophy.

With the IPL continuing to evolve and new teams challenging the traditional powerhouses, the race for the next champion remains as competitive as ever.
