The Rest of India (ROI) and Mumbai squad for Irani Cup 2024 was announced on Tuesday, and several heavyweights such as Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav have missed out on being part of the tournament. The Irani Cup 2024 starts on October 1 and will take place till October 5.
With an abundance of cricketing talent to choose from, several big names were dropped from the Rest of India squad. Let’s have a look at the five star players who will not be a part of the Irani Cup 2024.

Mumbai’s cricketing icon Suryakumar Yadav will be one of the biggest names to miss out on the Irani Cup 2024, as the batter will represent India in the T20I matches in the ongoing series against Bangladesh.
Another Mumbai native, Shivam Dube, also missed out on selection in the Irani Cup 2024 as he will also likely play in the Bangladesh tour of India.
Sanju Samson would be disappointed as he was not picked up by the ROI team, with Dhruv Jurel and Ishan Kishan being preferred as the wicket-keepers.
Ishan Kishan will likely start the matches for ROI at the expensive of Samson, who scored 196 runs in two matches in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
Mayank Agarwal, who was in sublime form for India A in a victorious campaign in the Duleep Trophy, will not be a part of the ROI squad in Irani Cup 2024 either.
Another Duleep Trophy stalwart Arshdeep Singh, who picked up nine wickets for India D, was also not among the selected names as he is likely to play for India in the T20I matches against Bangladesh.
Instead, Yash Dayal, who will likely be released from India’s Test squad in the Bangladesh tour, will lead the bowling for the ROI squad.
