Irani Cup 2024: Sarfaraz Khan slammed a confident hundred for Mumbai in their ongoing Irani Cup 2024 match against Rest of India at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Sarfaraz started from his overnight score of 54 to complete a 149-ball hundred after the departure of his Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane, who missed out on his ton by three runs.

Sarfaraz Khan also got a reprieve while he was batting on 97 as Prasidh Krishna dropped a catch at deep mid-on after a mistimed shot from the batter. The right-hander capitalised on the opportunity and completed his 15th first-class hundred in the next over.
The 26-year-old now has more first-class hundreds than fifties. He was part of the India squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, but did not get to play in either of the matches.
However, he was released from the squad to play for Mumbai in the prestigious Irani Cup which is held between the reigning Ranji Trophy champions and a star-studded Rest of India squad. Sarfaraz was spotted carrying drinks for the India batters on Day 4 (Monday, September 30) of the second Test which India won on seven wickets on Tuesday, October 1.
Sarfaraz hit 14 fours to complete his hundred against a Rest of India bowling unit consisting of Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna and Yash Dayal. He was also involved in a very crucial 131-run partnership with Rahane.
Mumbai were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 37/3. Rahane and Shreyas Iyer (57) partnered for 102 runs before Sarfaraz joined the Mumbai skipper and gave further strength to the Mumbai innings.
Sarfaraz Khan's brother Musheer Khan was also picked to play for Mumbai but was ruled out after an unfortunate road accident while travelling to Lucknow for the match.
Sarfaraz Khan, who has the third best first-class average among Indian batters, would be hopeful a game in the upcoming India vs New Zealand three-match Test series.
