Irfan's chances bright in Team India, opines Baroda coach

Lucknow, Dec 4 (UNI) Team India discard left arm medium pacer Irfan Pathan's chances to regain his place in the National team is bright, opined Baroda coach Paras Mhambrey here today.

Mhambrey, the coach of Baroda Ranji Trophy team, was delighted with the performances of Pathan brothers, especially Irfan for his all round performance in the Ranji league matches so far.

''Irfan is totally fit and most likely would regain his place for the 'Down under' tour,'' the coach opined.

He said the remainig 216 runs lead for Uttar Pradesh having four international players was within their reach, but once we dispatched three top order batsmen back to pavilion, our bowlers bounced back and exploited the conditions. However, the wicket still was batting freindly.

He said Praveen Gupta, who came back after a long gap, hit the ball all round the wicket, while the senior UP players failed to score. At one stage, Praveen became threat for our victory in the last stages of UP innings.

The Baroda coach said his team now would focus on better performance in the remaining league matches for securing top place in the tournament.
