Is Rohit Sharma injured? India captain reveals update on 'Hamstring Injury' after Pakistan win

By MyKhel Staff

India captain Rohit Sharma has provided a fresh update on his injury issue in the Pakistan match on Sunday (February 23).

Rohit suffered a hamstring niggle during the match while fielding and was taken off for some time. The India captain came on after a few overs but was in visible distress while fielding.

The player was grimacing while chasing the ball, which even concerned the commentators regarding his running ability. Later he came to bat at his usual spot and smashed 20 runs in just 15 balls before getting dismissed. Although his inning didn't have much of running, Rohit looked in content mode while running.

Rohit says Hamstring is 'Okay'

At the post-match presentation, the India captain provided an update on his condition. When asked about the injury, Rohit said it was fine at the moment.

"It (hamstring) is okay at the moment," Rohit said, prompting more doubt about his problem.

The vague answer from the India captain indicates the injury may still take some time to subside, and luckily for India, they now have a seven-day break in the tournament. India, after their first two wins, are on the verge of qualifying for the semifinals and will next be in action only on Sunday (March 2) against New Zealand.

Against the arch-rivals, India pulled off a stunning performance yet again. The bowlers were brilliant, and then Virat Kohli emerged from the ruins with a regal knock. And Rohit was quick to praise the players following the victory.

"The credit goes to guys like Axar, Kuldeep and Jadeja in the middle there. They've played a lot in this format and understand what is required of them. The way we started with the ball was superb. To restrict them to that kind of a score was a great effort from the bowling unit. We knew it gets slightly better to bat under lights, gets slower as well. We wanted to back the experience that we have in our batting line-up to go out there and get those runs," Rohit said.
