Is Rohit Sharma Wife Behind the Recent Bollywood Campaign Backing the India Captain?

In this age of likes, retweets, and hashtags, every move on social media is carefully scrutinized. And when a prominent celebrity takes a step to show support for someone, the spotlight doesn’t just fall on the person being supported, but also on the motivation behind the gesture.

Take the case of Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket captain, and his recent decision to opt out of the fifth Test against Australia. The cricket world was divided, but Bollywood stepped in to lend a hand.

Rohit Sharma PR

What began as a sweet show of solidarity quickly turned into a masterclass in internet speculation. Was this an organic outpouring of support, or was there a hand pulling the strings behind the curtain?

The Support That Sparked Suspicion

Rohit Sharma, known for his dazzling cricket skills, chose to sit out of the final Test in Sydney, citing poor form. Initially, fans respected the captain’s decision, understanding that even the best players have their off days. But then, something curious happened. Bollywood celebrities, including Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar, took to social media, showing support for Sharma in a way that seemed... a little too well-timed.

Vidya Balan posted a message praising Rohit for his decision to take a break. She wrote, “Rohit Sharma, what a SUPERSTAR!! To take a pause & catch your breath requires courage … More power to you … Respect !! @ImRo45.”

While the message was meant to inspire, the timing, along with the message’s tone, left some fans scratching their heads.

The reactions to Vidya’s post were a mixed bag. While many applauded her for being kind, others didn’t buy it, with some accusing her of posting a 'PR-planted’ message.

Farhan Akhtar Joins the Chorus

Not long after, Farhan Akhtar, another prominent Bollywood figure, expressed his support for Rohit Sharma. He praised the cricketer’s decision to prioritize the team over his own form, acknowledging that every cricketer goes through a rough patch.

He wrote on Instagram, sharing a picture of Sharma batting, “Yes, this sport can be cruel, and you’d be hard-pressed to come up with a cricketer who hasn’t gone through a lean period.” Farhan’s words were well-received by many, but the synchronized flow of celebrity support felt, well, too coordinated for some.

The Real Question: Is Ritika Sajdeh Behind It All?

Now, here’s where the plot thickens. Some keen-eyed netizens began to suspect that the whole campaign might not have been as spontaneous as it appeared. The common thread between these posts? They were all celebrities managed by Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit Sharma’s wife and manager. Ritika co-owns Cornerstone, a PR agency that manages a host of Bollywood stars, including Vidya Balan and Varun Dhawan.

That raised the possibility that the show of support could have been carefully orchestrated as part of a well-planned PR campaign to bolster Rohit’s image.

This theory quickly gained traction when users noticed the uncanny timing and similarity in the posts. The message was uniform, and the posts were spread out just enough to keep the momentum going. To some, it looked less like a spontaneous show of support and more like a coordinated media blitz.

Despite the best intentions, the campaign backfired. Instead of focusing on Rohit’s decision, the conversation shifted to the perceived manipulation behind it. In the end, the real story was overshadowed by the questions surrounding the orchestrated messages.

And to add salt to the wound, India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia, marking the end of a 10-year winning streak. It’s safe to say that this campaign might not have been the shining moment Ritika and company had hoped for.

Regardless, Rohit Sharma remains a superstar, regardless of the noise around him. But perhaps next time, a little less of the staged fanfare would be better for both him and the stars lending their support.
