Ishan Kishan Makes History With 250 in Duleep Trophy Final as East Zone Post Mammoth 708!

New Delhi, September 7: Ishan Kishan etched his name into the Duleep Trophy record books on Monday, September 7, becoming the first captain to score 250 in the tournament's final. Representing East Zone, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter produced a stunning 301-ball innings before retiring hurt on exactly 250.

Kishan's marathon knock featured 27 boundaries and seven sixes, giving him a strike rate of 83.06. His effort came close to challenging the record for the highest individual score in a Duleep Trophy final.

That record remains with Raman Lamba, who smashed 320 off 471 balls for North Zone against West Zone in Bhilai in 1987. However, Lamba was not the captain. The highest score by a captain in the competition is Arun Lal's 287 off 490 balls for East Zone against West Zone in the 1986 semi-final.

Kishan's 250 also places him among the elite run-scorers in Duleep Trophy history, joining a list that includes Lamba (320), GK Khoda (300*), SS Bhave (292), Arun Lal (287), Sanjay Manjrekar (278), Lalchand Rajput (275), Virender Sehwag (274) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (265).

Kishan walked in when East Zone were 147/3 and quickly took control of the innings. He stitched together partnerships of 94, 230 and 140 with Shikhar Mohan, Kumar Kushagra and Anukul Roy respectively, helping East Zone build a commanding position.

The batter eventually left the field after reaching 250, although he did not appear to have suffered a serious injury. Kishan seemed to be struggling with cramps, meaning he could potentially return later in the innings.

If he gets another opportunity to bat, Kishan could have the chance to add to his tally and potentially rewrite more Duleep Trophy records.
