Islamabad United injury update, key players in PSL 2023
There's no update on Azam Khan's availability for the game after missing the last match against the same outfit following a finger injury during keeping in the penultimate game against Lahore Qalandars. Pacer Zeeshan Zameer, who was injured earlier this month, was expected to return to the team by the time of the play-offs.
Uncertainty over Azam Khan's availability
Azam's absence may hurt Islamabad United's chances as the middle-order batter has played many crucial innings for the side and was the second-highest run-getter with 236 runs in eight innings.
In his absence, the team suffered a batting collapse against Qalanadars and then went down chasing against their today's rivals Peshawar Zalmi. There's no update on Moeen Ali joining the squad despite reports of him being available for the play-off stages.
Colin Munro and Alex Hales need to fire
Colin Munro and Alex Hales carry the brunt of scoring with the former also the leading run-scorer with 294 runs. The New Zealand batter, who was shifted to the No. 3 as Islamabad shuffled the batting order, hasn't scored big innings in the past two games but will be expected to retain his good show from earlier in the month.
English opener Hales has misfired since arrival with just 80 runs in five matches but was kept in the side with the outfit hoping he will live up to his reputation.
There's also suspense over who will start the inning for Islamabad, especially if Azam Khan doesn't make the squad. Afghan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was shifted down to the middle-order to replace Azam Khan and played a decent knock of 33 runs from 24 balls.
However, Gurbaz, who has scored a half century earlier in the season, has failed to maintain consistency in his peformance. However, on his day, the batter can do a lot of destruction.
Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan crucial in the middle order
Shadab Khan has struggled with the bat for the most part of the PSL but has found some form off late. The skipper scored 25 in the last game after returning to form with a knock of 44 against Multan Sultans in a narrow win. And with the pitch assisting spinners, Shabad is expected to play a bigger role in the match.
Medium-pace all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who bats at No. 6, has been more reliant with the bat off late with knocks of 38, 51*, 39* and 41 in the recent past. Ashraf's bowling, however, hasn't been as impressive as his batting with seven wickets in 10 games.
His role has been more crucial with finisher Asif Ali not living up to his expectation with just 36 runs in his last five innings.
Fazalhaq Farooqi and Hasan Ali lead pace attack
Young pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and Hasan Ali has added to Islamabad bowling strength off late and have put up some match-winning performances. Southpaw Farooqi has taken 10 wickets in the last five games, including 3-for thrice, while Hasan comes into the game taking 3/39 against Zalmis in the last game.
Mohammad Wasim, on the other hand, has been ineffective and has leaked a lot of runs.
Spin has been concern for the side. Barring, Shadab Khan, the team has struggled to find its second spinner with Mubasir Khan and Abrar Ahmed not impressing enough in the format.

Peshawar Zalmi injury update, team news, key players
Peshawar Zalmi have no injury concerns ahead of the game so far and the side also earned some winning momentum by defeating Islamabad in their last league match but have few issues to address in their bowling. However, the batting concerns look more or less sorted.
Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris in hot form
The top-order of Peshawar Zalmi has been their prime strength with Babar Azam and Saim Ayub forming a good partnership top of the order. The skipper is second in the Maroon Cap race with 416 runs and slammed a century as well. Saim Ayub, on the other hand, has scored three half-centuries in his last five innings.
Mohammad Haris, who was demoted to No. 3 after a string of poor shows, found form in the last game as well with a lightning knock of 79 that dismantled Islamabad's bowling on Rawalpindi's flat track.
Tom Kohler Cadmore and Rovman Powell hold key in middle-order
Tom Kohler Cadmore started the season with a blast, scoring 92 in his first game but since then endured a rough patch before finally showing consistency in the late stages of the league with knocks of 38, 36* 56* and 55 to consolidate his spot in the playing 11. Rovman Powell, on the other hand, has been good at pacing the run rate as he has been striking at the rate of 167.26 this season over eight games.
Down the batting order wicket-keeper Haseebullah Khan and all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai are capable of scoring quick runs if called for.
Khurram Shahzad and Sufiyan Muqeem to return to line-up?
Peshawar Zalmi's dipped off late with their bowlers leaking runs aplenty as 240 was chased down twice against them. Likes of Wahab Riaz, Azmatullah Omarzai, Arshab Iqbal gave away too many runs until the skipper returned the likes of Khurram Shahzad, Sufiyan Muqeem, and James Neesham to the playing 11 in the dead rubber against Islamabad.
The trio took eight wickets in the game with Shahzad and Muqeem taking three wickets apiece. Muqeem, in fact, could play a pivotal role in the game with spinners finding more value on the Gadaffi surface.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman will look to exploit the same after taking just four wickets in the last five games.
Wahab Riaz, on the other hand, has taken seven wickets in the last five games and his experience is something that the team management will like to have in the squad.

Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium has gone slower and dryer with the help on the offer for spinners. Anything above 160-170 could be a task to chase. There could be help on the offer for pacers too with the Qualifier 1 match seeing swing coming into play in the second innings with the change in the weather that helped Multan Sultans' pacers to make the most out of it.
