Islamabad United vs Karachi Kings PSL 2024: Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by 5 wickets in a must-win game at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday, March 7. With the win, the Shadab Khan-led team has jumped to second spot on the basis of a superior Net Run Rate than Quetta Gladiators and Peshwar Zalmi.
Each of these three teams have nine points each. However, Islamabad are left with one league match, whereas Quetta and Peshwar have three and two games respectively left in their kitty.

Karachi Kings, on the other hand, are still at fifth spot with just three wins in eight matches. The Shan Masood-led side posted 150/7 on the board after being asked to bat first. Kieron Pollard top-scored for them with 39 off 28. Faheem Ashraf (2/16) and Tymal Mills (3/34) starred with the ball for Islamabad.
Islamabad batters Agha Salman (34), and Shadab Khan (34) stitched a crucial 58-run partnership, before Haider Ali's quickfire 26 off 16 sealed the deal for Islamabad United with eight balls to spare. Mir Hamza picked three wickets for Karachi.

Shan Masood (Karachi Kings captain): We can say that (short of runs). It was a tricky pitch to bat. Shadab, at the toss, said that it was a typical Pindi wicket. We got off to a decent start, we were looking at 170 and we fell short. When you try to build a new team, sometimes things don't work. I haven't brought my game with the bat. It's a team game. Really proud of the bowling effort. If we had a few more runs, the story might have been different. We'd like some more runs from the top-order. If we win the two games, we'll be in a good position. We can't rely on one player. (On Mir Hamza) He was very unfortunate when he fractured his finger last tear. He's one of the best bowlers in domestic cricket, showed his class in Australia. As a bowling unit, we are very happy, as a fielding unit, we are very happy. It's the batting unit that needs to step up.
Shadab Khan (Islamabad United Captain): It was a tough decision but regardless of the results, we had decided to rest our main pacers (Naseem and Raees) as we had back-to-back matches. (On Faheem Ashraf) He is one of our main players. We know his calibre. He has a great record in Pindi and we kept on backing him.
Faheem Ashraf (Man of the Match): My confidence wasn't down. Coaches and captain backed me and told that Pindi would suit my style of play. When you do well in one department, it boosts you confidence in the other department. We were without two key bowlers, but we were still confident of delivering the goods.
Haider Ali (IU batter): Good finish. The way Shadab and Salman batted,, it made the job easier for us, the lower order batters. No particular position, I would like to contribute wherever the team wants me to bat at. Faheeem batted superbly yesterday and came out with a positive intent today as well. I have worked a lot on my hitting game and I'd like to credit our coach Hanif for that.
