Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi Live Streaming, PSL 2023 Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi set up the date for PSL 2023 Eliminator 1 clash in Lahore on Thursday.
The sides made it to the virtual quarterfinals after they finished third and fourth in the league stages. Islamabad United (12 points) finished third by the virtue of net run rate behind Multan Sultans (12) and table toppers Lahore Qalandars (14). Zalmi bagged 10 points with their latest win coming against Islamabad, whom they dismantled in a dead rubber.
Islamabad United are sweating over the fitness of their star performer Azam Khan, who injured his finger during their penultimate league game and missed the subsequent match against Zalmi. If the wicketkeeper, who is the franchise's second-highest run-getter, doesn't recover in time for the game then Afghan explosive batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz will replace him in the line-up.
Azam Khan's uncertainty demands better contribution from the top order with the onus falling on overseas batters Colin Munro and Alex Hales. The English opener hasn't fired big yet this PSL after arriving late while Munro has been the team's top run-getter with 294 runs and has scored two half-centuries as well.
Skipper Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf have been in good touch with the bate off late with the latter scoring 150-plus runs in the last five innings. Ashraf's presence in the middle-order has been crucial given Asif Ali hasn't fired at all this PSL.
Shadab, on the other hand, will like to exploit the dry surface of the Gadaffi stadium with his spin bowling as remaining of the spinners in Mubasir Khan and Abrar Ahmed haven't succeeded in leaving their mark yet.
Among pacers, Fazalhaq Farooqi has been in good form with 10 wickets in five games while Hasan Ali picked up three wickets in the last game against Peshawar.
Zalmi's top-order batting seems sorted with Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Haris firing runs recently while Rovman Powell and Tod Kohler-Cadmore like to score at a high strike rate in the middle order.
Lower down the order, Haseebullah Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai provide further fireworks.
However, the Afghan all-rounder may not hold his position in the team anymore after leaking too many runs in recent games. At the same time, Khurram Shahzad and Shuifyan Muqeem impressed in the rare opportunity handed to them with three wickets each against Islamabad in the last league game.
Senior pacer Wahab Riaz's experience is also something that Peshawar will like to carry into the game.
