Shubman Gill has opened up on his on-field chemistry with India captain Rohit Sharma. The youngster has been a prolific run scorer for India in the limited overs format and reckons his partnership with Sharma will be crucial in the coming days.
With ICC World Cup on the horizon, Gill and Rohit's partnership at the top will be a pivotal component. The pair have done extremely well so far while batting together. They have stitched 685 runs in just nine innings while batting together in ODI, at a gigantic average of 76.11.

Rohit and Gill were excellent for India earlier this year when the pair added century-plus stands on numerous occasions. They amassed 143 runs against Sri Lanka in Guwahati, and 212 against New Zealand earlier this year, as six of their last eight partnerships have been 50+ stands.
And Gill has spoken highly about his experience while sharing the crease with Rohit Sharma. In an interview with ICC, the player says the India captain gives everyone full freedom while batting.
"It feels great to be able to open with him, especially knowing that all the focus is on him," Gill began, looking to Rohit's presence in the eyes of opponents and fans," Gill said.
"He's someone who likes the other batters to go and just express himself and play the way I want to play the game. So in that nature, he gives the players full freedom for how they want to express their game," Gill added.
Gill was asked about the secret of their success as a pair, and the Indian opener stated the contrasting nature of their batting as the reason why they have been successful. He said the Indian captain Rohit Sharma likes to take the aerial route in powerplay, while he likes to play along the ground.
"I think because his (Rohit's) targeted areas are a bit different (to mine). He loves to go aerial in the Powerplay. And I'm someone who likes to find the gaps and keep getting those boundaries, and he's someone who likes to hit sixes. So I think that combination works well," Gill further said.
The duo will be opening the batting for India in the upcoming Asia Cup and their form going into the final months before the World Cup will be crucial for Men in Blue.
