"It’s Like, 'We Won’t Let You In’": Virat Kohli Makes Bold Comparison Between RCB vs CSK Crowd
Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli has opened up on the intense rivalry between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), highlighting how travelling fans play a major role in shaping the atmosphere during matches in Bengaluru.
Speaking on JioStar ahead of another high-profile clash between the two franchises, Kohli reflected on why encounters between RCB and CSK remain among the most exciting fixtures in the IPL calendar.

"One team we've historically had the most intense games against, I feel, is CSK in Bengaluru, because when we play CSK, a lot of Chennai fans turn up here as well. At their stadium, there are just CSK fans everywhere. In Bengaluru, people are welcoming like, 'Come and see the game.' But in Chennai, it's all yellow, it's like, 'we won't let you in.' And our fans don't travel there as much.
"CSK fans, on the other hand, travel in huge numbers. They buy tickets very early and often end up occupying an entire section of the stadium. That creates a unique atmosphere in CSK vs RCB games, with the tension and banter between fans over who is louder. And, of course, the game itself becomes very intense and competitive. That environment, I would say, is the most exciting."
Kohli's comments reflect the long-standing rivalry between the two franchises, which has consistently delivered high-stakes encounters and dramatic finishes over the years. Matches between RCB and CSK are widely regarded as among the most anticipated fixtures each season, largely due to the passionate fan bases on both sides.
One of the defining elements of this rivalry has been the visible presence of CSK supporters even at away venues. Bengaluru, in particular, often sees large numbers of Chennai fans filling sections of the stadium, creating a split-crowd atmosphere rarely seen in other IPL fixtures.
This travelling fan culture has added another dimension to the rivalry, turning CSK vs RCB contests into more than just cricket matches. The noise levels, chants, and visible team colours from both fan groups often create a charged environment that players themselves acknowledge as one of the most thrilling in the tournament.
With another chapter of the rivalry set to unfold, Kohli's remarks underline how fan engagement continues to shape the intensity of IPL contests, especially in fixtures featuring two of the league's most followed teams.
