'It Would be Awesome': Rohit Sharma advocates for India vs Pakistan Bilateral Series with Special Condition
India captain Rohit Sharma has officially advocated for a potential Test series against Pakistan.
The two arch-rivals haven't played Tests since Pakistan's tour to India in 2007. The previous bilateral series was in 2012-13 and after that, the two nations have only pitted against each other in ICC and ACC tournaments.

But India captain Rohit Sharma thinks India and Pakistan must play Test cricket and that would be 'awesome'. In the Club Prairie Fire Podcast, which is co-hosted by Australia legend Adam Gilchrist and former England captain Michael Vaughan, Rohit Sharma welcomed the theory of the two rivals playing bilateral series regularly.
But the Indian captain confirmed that the two nations can only play at a neutral venue as the political tension bars India and Pakistan from playing in their countries in a bilateral series. Despite numerous attempts from both boards to organize a series, it hasn't come to fruition yet, but Rohit believes a series can take place on foreign soil.
"They're a good team. They have got a superb bowling line-up. So it'll be a good contest especially if you play overseas conditions. That'll be awesome," Rohit said in the podcast.
"Yeah, I would love to," Rohit added when Vaughan asked whether he would be interested in playing against Pakistan outside of ICC tournaments.
The 36-year-old is the first Indian player to publicly give a positive nod on a potential series against Pakistan. But he cleared that the intention should solely be focused on cricket as it would be 'a great contest' between two teams.
"At the end of the day, we want to be in contest and I think it will be a great contest between the two sides. We anyway play them in ICC trophies, so it doesn't really matter. It's just pure cricket that I'm looking at. I'm not interested in anything else. It's pure cricket, game between bat and ball. It'll be a great contest," he concluded.
